Newcastle’s lighted Christmas parade and Christmas in the Park is this Saturday. Newcastle Parks & Recreation continues looking for parade float participants, booth entries, and sponsors.

The COOP Ale Works Beats & Bites Festival, which features live music, local food trucks and other entertainment, completed its seventh year at Riverwind Casino having drawn over 23,000 fans over its four installments.

Students of FCCLA advisor Lacey England (right) recently earned the right to participate at Regional competition. They are, from left: Zaelyn Elmo, Charlize Miller, Kaitlyn Morgan, Avery Wise, Topanga Bornt, and Caleigh Boomgarden. Zaelyn was first place in children’s literature. Charlize received second place in career investigation. Kaitlyn serves as the South District 2 Vice President of Public Relations. Avery was fourth place in repurpose and redesign, and Topanga and Cayleigh were second place in cake decorating.

The Board of McClain County Commissioners convened for their regular session on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 8:16 a.m. in Room 111 of the McClain County Courthouse. Chairman Terry Daniel presided over the meeting and initiated proceedings.
