Chamber hopes Shop Local Bingo will draw customers

Newcastle Chamber of Commerce wants you to play bingo this holiday season. They have started a promotion called Shop Local Bingo, which runs from December 4 to December 22.

Bingo cards are available at participating businesses, and at the Newcastle Chamber office in the outside basket by the front door.

Each card has 20 spaces sponsored by local businesses. Two of these are free spaces provided by Newcastle-area utility companies.

Chamber CEO/Executive Director Gayla Riddle said, “This is an easy and fun way to support local businesses this holiday season.”

She said participants visit and purchase from any of the participating chamber members and receive a stamp on that business’s square. Each week, participants are asked to complete two lines of freestyle bingo games per card.

Riddle said the sponsoring businesses have put together four “awesome local business gift baskets.” One bingo card winner will be drawn from December 10 through December 22, and the freestyle basket winners will be available for pick up on the following Monday.

Riddle said the campaign will conclude with a Fill the Card, or Black Out Card winner, with a grand prize basket. The Black Out basket will be awarded on Saturday, December 23.

“Once you have reached your two lines of freestyle bingo, please turn that card in to The Outpost Print and Ship Center from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2160 N. Main Street, Suite C, where they will make a copy of your card for that week’s drawing and you will keep your original card to continue to play for the Black Out-Fill the Card for the grand prize basket,” Riddle said.

She added, “For the Pioneer square to be stamped, simply visit Pioneer Telephone’s office from Tuesday, December 5 through Friday, December 22 for a treat and to get your sheet stamped.”

Riddle said thank you to OEC, OEC Fiber, ONG, and Republic Services for giving participants the two free spaces, adding that along with Pioneer, all the utilties have given gifts for the gift baskets.

Instructions are on the back of the card, and participants should put name, phone number and email on their entries. For questions, call the chamber at 405-387-3232, or email [email protected]. “Have fun and more importantly, thank you for supporting and shopping,” Riddle said.
