Clay resigns seat on City Council
Concluding the July City Council meeting, Mayor Karl Nail announced that Tommy Clay had resigned from his position as a city council member. The board will now be tasked with appointing someone by majority vote to fill Clay’s seat in Ward 1.

Cleaning Veterans Park after the Fest
The Newcastle Boy Scout Troop 231 cleaned up Veterans Park on Sunday, July 2 after the Red, White & Blue Fest activities the night before. This is the third year in a row the Scouts have volunteered. They were able to pick up seven bags of trash and they cleaned from the east side of the park all the way over past the field to the extra parking on the west side. Lunch is served for a $5 donation at the Newcastle Senior Citizen’s Center each week day. Meals consist of a drink, soup, salad bar, main meal and dessert.

Ribbon cut at Bradford Farmers Insurance
Farmers agent Rodney Bradford and Rhonda Bradford cut ribbons from the Newcastle and Tuttle Chambers of Commerce along with several members of the two chambers. The event took place Thursday, June 29.
