New political party would place focus on moderates

There is no better time than now for an alternative party to form and offer a viable candidate for the President of the United States. With the two leading contenders, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, catering to the extremes of their parties, there are many of us who are upset and would gladly throw our support behind a moderate third-party candidate.

Oh … by the way, there is a movement for another party. It’s called the No Labels party.

The name says it all. There is no loyalty to towing the party line of either the Republicans or the Democrats.

The No Labels party website says, “Our leaders are fighting and the country suffers. Be brave. Stand up.”

That’s what most of us want. We want less infighting, and no more lying and manipulating. We want true national leadership to provide for our health, our freedoms, and our security.

Steve Inskeep, of National Public Radio’s Morning Edition, recently interviewed Chris Stirewalt, a senior fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, a think tank based in Washington, D.C. that does not support political candidates, but that does “advocate in favor of private enterprise, limited government and democratic capitalism.”

Stirewalt said, “No Labels is on the ballot now in 12 states” and they say they are attempting to be on ballots in all the states. They have some momentum. Inskeep noted that there seems to be some big funders who are eager to support someone other than Joe Biden or Donald Trump. It will take big money and backing in order to be successful. It will also take the support of all those who are disappointed in our national leadership and the offerings of the two main political parties.

It is also going to take a moderate person who is wise and has proven leadership skills, a history of making good decisions, and who is empathetic. If the No Labels party can offer this person, we ask you to join us in supporting them at the polls.

No Labels describes itself as “a national movement of commonsense Americans pushing our leaders together to solve our country’s biggest problems.” Isn’t that what government should be doing?

It is time for a strong third party, and it is time for a smart, proven and dedicated person with love of his or her country to step up and lead.
