Christmas parade, Christmas in the Park are Saturday in Newcastle

Newcastle’s lighted Christmas parade and Christmas in the Park is this Saturday. Newcastle Parks & Recreation continues looking for parade float participants, booth entries, and sponsors.

They are also announcing that Santa Claus will be in the park for photos, and a reindeer by the name of Cupid will be among animals in a petting zoo.

Kyle Marks, director of Parks and Recreation, said Christmas in the Park begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 2, and then the parade will get underway at 5:45 p.m. that evening.

Marks said if you are interested in participating as a float or having a booth at the event, go to either the City of Newcastle website, or to the link they provide at https:// www.cognitoforms.com/ CityOfNewcastle1/ChristmasInTheParkSignup2023.

For the accompanying 3rd Annual Christmas in the Park, Marks said the City is looking for an assortment of vendors, crafters, bakers, treat makers, gift sellers, and more.

“We want the Christmas Market to appeal to the senses,” Marks said.

Booth rental is $25 for a 10x10 space. Payments can be made at City Hall with either cash or check. Booth rental fees will go to support Firehouse Santa.

Vendors are responsible for bringing their own tables and tents.
