Goold headed to State Tourney
The Newcastle boys golf team came in fourth overall at the Regional golf tournament at Lake Murray Golf Course Monday. Evan Goold (top left) shot a 77 to qualify for the Class 4A State Tournament at Weatherford’s Prairie West Golf Course on May 8-9. NHS golf team members (not in order) are: Goold, Cameron Cathey, Mason Dobbs, Luke Lancaster and Colton Bradley.

Golfing at State
Newcastle’s Aydan Smith qualified for the Class 4A Golf State Tournament. She shot a 91 at Kingfisher on a cold and rainy day. She traveled to Weatherford’s Prairie West Golf Course on Wednesday and will play there for State through Friday.

Racers are Bi-District Champs; next up is Regionals at Lone Grove
A double header with Classen School of Advanced Studies last Thursday resulted in shutouts of 12-0 and 10-0, and the Racers being named Bi-District Champions. The Racers move on to Regionals today (Thursday) at Lone Grove.

Mid-America Christian University Athletics is adding men’s and women’s cross country programs and will immediately begin competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference in fall 2023.

A trip to Woodward on Monday resulted in a 2-1 first-round Class 4A State Soccer loss for the Racers. The loss ended Newcastle’s soccer season for 2023.
