A double header with Classen School of Advanced Studies last Thursday resulted in shutouts of 12-0 and 10-0, and the Racers being named Bi-District Champions. The Racers move on to Regionals today (Thursday) at Lone Grove.
In game one, the Racers had six runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning to win the 2 1/2 inning game. In game two, Newcastle had six runs in the first inning, and two runs each in the second and third innings to win the three inning game.
The Racers played Chickasha on Saturday, winning the game 7-2, and placing their season record at 26-7 overall and 12-4 in District 4A-1. The Racers are currently in second place in the District behind Tuttle, which has a 14-0 record.
Taj Smith had a two-run homer in the game, and Lane Seaton, Kaden Longman, and Alex Logan all had RBIs. Jackson Schanuel went two of four at the plate.
Jackson Robertson started the game at pitcher, and Trey Crossley picked up the win for the Racers.
At Lone Grove Thursday, the Racers play the 1:30 p.m. game against Clinton. The winner of that game plays at 4 p.m. Thursday, while the loser plays at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Regional Tournament continues on Friday.
