Nail’s tenure as mayor
N ewcastle Mayor Karl Nail has served the City since August 2006 when he filled a seat left vacant upon the death of Councilman Wes Wilson. Nail was sworn-in at the September meeting that year.

Research when choosing contractors
It’s been a blur since the tornado struck our district. I want to thank all of the first responders, law enforcement officers, utility workers, local, state, and federal officials and workers, along with the many volunteers who have worked around the clock to help our neighbors in McClain County as they work to put their lives back together.

Correction
We reported in last week’s issue of the Newcastle Pacer that the Newcastle Racer baseball team was rained out from playing Lindsay on Tuesday, April 25. This was in error. The game was played and the Racers beat Lindsay, 6-2.

Passing the buck
The late, great Democratic President Harry S. Truman once famously placed a sign on his desk which proclaimed, “The Buck Stops Here.” Surely, “Give ‘em Hell Harry” is rolling in his grave on the release of the Biden Administration’s reports on its disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021.
