Edna Jestine (Miller) Welch

August 19, 1926 - July 4, 2023

On July 4, 2023, Edna Jestine (Miller) Welch, 96, gained her independence and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on August 19, 1926, Edna was the first of three children born to George Elmer Miller and Zenobia Louise Cochran in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Edna attended Waldon School and Tuttle High school. She was married to William Junior Welch, for 43 years. They raised four children together and lost one stillborn child.

She was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. It was here that she met her fiancĂ©, Curtis Clanton. While they spent much time together, Curtis’s failing health prevented them from marrying. Edna was a proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and she was an active member of the Oklahoma City Chickasaw Community Council.

She is remembered by all who knew her as a wonderful, sweet, loving, Christian woman. Edna worked hard as a wife and mother, staying at home to raise her four children, sewing their clothes, keeping a vegetable and flower garden, as well as crocheting, embroidering, quilting, knitting and beading.

Preceding her in death are: her parents; brother, Kenneth Miller; sister-in-law, Cuma Miller; daughter, Sharon Linda Moore; son-in-law, Ronny Moore; two grandsons-in-law, Tracy Hensley and Bryan Warrick; and greatgrandson, Milo Warrick.

She is survived by: brother, Alexander Miller, and sister-in- law, Joanne Miller; son, Gary (Butch) and Doniece Welch; daughters, Betty Sue and Kip Smith; Janet Maxine Robbins-Page and Russell Page; grandchildren, Kayla Hensley, Zachary and Becki Smith, Amanda and Johnny Payne, Katherine and Victor Martiny, Jacqueline Warrick, Max and Sarah Robbins; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Hensley, Keith Hensley, Mike Hensley, Matt Uhlar, Kyle Uhlar, Evelyn Martiny, Jackson Learn, Maya Learn, Levi Martiny, Greyson Learn, Jayden Wright, and Landon Warrick; as well as many others who will miss her.
