Burguete wins Regional title too

Head Track and Field Coach Jason Haggerty was pleased with the results from the Regional Track and Field Meet on Saturday at Putnam City High School.

A celebration of Dr. Melonie Hau in her retirement as superintendent of Newcastle Public Schools is from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the school administration building.

An agreement with MA+ Architecture was approved by the Newcastle School Board for work on the Newcastle Elementary School improvements.

Seven children, 29 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, four great-greatgrandchildren, 60 quilts and 35-plus pillows remain as a legacy from Dolores Beaty, 94, who passed away in her Newcastle home on March 30 this year.

Board also approves bonus

School officials were excited to announce the arrival of three new busses to the fleet last week. The busses were purchased with school bond money approved by voters in August 2022. They are now being outfitted with camera systems. Assistant Superintendent Kristi Ferguson said four more busses are expected in the fall. She said because of supply issues, they do not have a delivery date. The three new busses cost a total of $308,523, or $102,841 each. The school had previously purchased 17 camera systems at a cost of $72,092.

Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, was recently inducted into the National Service Hall of Fame by Voices for National Service for his longstanding support of AmeriCorps and Americorps Seniors.
