Friends of the Newcastle Public Library will host their annual Book Sale and Craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at the library, 705 N.W. 10th Street.

Gift baskets from Guernsey included linen towels for dog beds, tube socks to fill with water bottles as enrichment toys, Pill Pocket capsules to give animals medications if needed, dog toys, leashes, food, treats, bowls, and doggie bandanas to wear on their way to new homes. Marci White and Tommy Clay were sworn in for new terms of office as City Council members during the Monday night regular meeting. Neither drew opponents for their offices.

Racer baseball finished their 2023 season with a 28-10 record overall and as Bi-District Champions, before losing two games to Lone Grove at Regionals. The Racers were second in District 4A-1 with a District record of 12-4, just behind Tuttle, 14-0.
