A celebration of Dr. Melonie Hau in her retirement as superintendent of Newcastle Public Schools is from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the school administration building.
Refreshments will be served at the come and go event, and if you would like to send a card, there will be a box where they can be placed.
Dr. Hau’s official day of retirement at Newcastle is June 30, 2023. After that, Dr. Cathy Walker will begin her tenure as NPS superintendent.
Hau has been at Newcastle for four years. She previously served as superintendent at Duncan Public Schools, and assistant superintendent at Enid. She was also an administrator, principal and teacher at Deer Creek Public Schools, but started her education career as a teacher at Guthrie Junior High School. Hau said she will now have opportunities on the state level to help mentor other educators and she is really excited about that. She is also looking forward to being at home more often with her husband, Byron, having dinners together more often, and traveling.
