Last week we finished out the 1990’s events for the American Legion. In October 1995, the Legion formed the Persian Gulf Task Force to enhance service for the newest generation of wartime veterans, thousands of whom suffer from injuries and illnesses linked to their service in the Middle East.

Newcastle hosting Sweet Pea Tournament this week
Low offensive output marred the Newcastle Lady Racer’s game against Kingfisher on January 9. The Yellowjackets won the game, 26-14.
Newcastle boys basketball has an overall winning record on the year, going 8-5 into Tuesday this week. The Racers, however, are 4-4 in competition with Class 4A teams and are ranked 20th in the state for Class 4A.

Newcastle wrestling won two but then lost one at District Duals at Elgin last week. The Racers beat Lawton Eisenhower, 58-24, and Southeast, 66-18, before losing to Elgin, 0-74.
