Seven children, 29 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, four great-greatgrandchildren, 60 quilts and 35-plus pillows remain as a legacy from Dolores Beaty, 94, who passed away in her Newcastle home on March 30 this year.

Board also approves bonus

School officials were excited to announce the arrival of three new busses to the fleet last week. The busses were purchased with school bond money approved by voters in August 2022. They are now being outfitted with camera systems. Assistant Superintendent Kristi Ferguson said four more busses are expected in the fall. She said because of supply issues, they do not have a delivery date. The three new busses cost a total of $308,523, or $102,841 each. The school had previously purchased 17 camera systems at a cost of $72,092.

Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, was recently inducted into the National Service Hall of Fame by Voices for National Service for his longstanding support of AmeriCorps and Americorps Seniors.

An official groundbreaking ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Monday at 717 North Walker Drive for the new animal shelter being constructed by the City. The public is invited to attend.

STRUT Week at Newcastle High School reports they have raised $18

Lunch is served for a $5 donation at the Newcastle Senior Citizen’s Center each week.

N ewcastle Mayor Karl Nail has served the City since August 2006 when he filled a seat left vacant upon the death of Councilman Wes Wilson. Nail was sworn-in at the September meeting that year.
