The skies above Veterans Park are set to come alive with color and joy on September 9, 2023, as the community gathers for the eagerlyawaited event, “Kites and Bites.” Running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this unique gathering promises a blend of food, fun and the outdoors.

Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Marks said, “Kite-flying is the star of the day, a fun activity that everyone in the family can enjoy. And here’s the exciting part — we’ll be giving out free kites to kids. Hurry along to see your very own kite dancing in the Oklahoma sky.”

Marks said the kites are first come, first served.

On the ground, local food trucks will offer a variety of tastes.

“The goal of Kites and Bites is to create a memorable community event that creates simple outdoor fun,” Marks said. “It’s an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and grab a quick bite.”

He said with its inviting combination of kite flying and food trucks, Kites and Bites is set to be an event that joins simple pleasures with community spirit.

Marks said, “Be sure to mark your calendar for September 9 and join us at Veterans Park.”
