City approves additional drilling; 16 ft. sound walls going up at well
An agenda item for the drilling of additional wells at existing well sites in Newcastle was approved by the City Council but not before a lot of discussion, and not before an agreement that the oil and gas company would erect 16-foot sound walls on three sides of the well site.

Expired tag stop turns up shrooms, THC
Newcastle Police Sergeant Chris Holden took into custody Derek Alexander Carr, 27, of McLoud, on Friday, March 3 during a routine traffic stop for an expired tag. After finding out that Carr had marijuana in his pocket but no medical marijuana card with him, a search of the vehicle by the officer turned up multiple types of manufactured THC products, psilocybin mushrooms, and several marijuana cigarettes.
