A collision on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike about two miles west of Newcastle at 9:02 p.m. on June 15 left an Oklahoma City woman injured.

A report by Trooper Kenneth Pittman indicates that Tierra D. Alexander, 24, of Altus, was driving a 2018 Toyota Corolla in heavy rain and hail on the turnpike when it departed the roadway and struck in the rear a 2013 Ford F250 truck driven by Joshua D. Lovett, 40, of Oklahoma City. Lovett’s vehicle was legally parked on the outside shoulder, according to the trooper’s report.

Alexander was transported by McClain-Grady EMS to Oklahoma University Trauma in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in fair condition with leg injuries. Lovett was not injured.

Trooper Pittman indicated speed as a factor in the collision.

He was assisted by the Newcastle Fire Department, the McClain-Grady EMS, and the Lighthorse Police Department.
