We have been fortunate to have had some moisture the past couple of weeks; however, this is Oklahoma and it can turn dry in a hurry. It is always a good idea to plan ahead for those hot summer days and keep our plants growing and vibrant if we can. Dry summers are not unusual in Oklahoma.

The Pioneer Library System celebrates engaging 100,000 library cardholders this summer. 38% of PLS’s customers actively and routinely use their library card, with 75% of the total service area owning a library card.

Veteran elementary school teacher Teresa Crook, of Newcastle, was appointed by the Newcastle City Council at their July 8 meeting to serve on the Pioneer Library System Board of Trustees.

Homeowners in The Ridge are one step closer to seeing the improperly built drainage in the public areas of their development be corrected.

Newcastle City Council approved decreasing the speed limit on S. Pennsyvania Avenue between S.E. 32nd Street and State Highway 9 to 35 miles per hour.

Low-interest federal disaster loans are currently available to Oklahoma businesses and residents. Deadline July 1, 2024 as a result of the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 25 through May 9, 2024.
