She began school at Yanush, later attending junior high and high school at Buffalo Valley School. Phyllis began work at AT&T in the 1960s and retired from Lucent Technologies in 1997.
Phyllis met her husband, Wayne, on a blind date arranged by family members in 1973. On July 13, 1974, Phyllis and Wayne made the relationship permanent by marriage, creating a household of six teenagers.
Phyllis was a Christian from an early age and passed from this life September 14, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers, Leon Ray, William Leo, Richard, and Kenneth Anderson; sister, Sylvia Louise Sims and half-sister, Daphner Bray; and step-daughter, Vicki Jones.
Phyllis is survived by: husband, Wayne, of the home; two sons, Terrance (Terry) Kirkes and wife, Sherry, Raymond Buck and wife, Dewana; one daughter, Patricia Croney and husband, Larry; two step-sons, Kenneth Cable and wife, Bessie, and Tony Cable and wife, Carol. Phyllis is survived by: two sisters, Betty Wetwiska and Maggie Sue Anderson; two brothers, John and Jerry Anderson; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2023, at South Penn Church of Christ in Oklahoma City with Matt Pannell and J.R. Smith officiating. Graveside committal and burial was held at 4 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023, at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, Oklahoma.
