Jeana LaJuan Stead
Jeana LaJuan Stead
Jeana was born on March 17, 1944, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to James Eugene and Juanita Chesnut. She graduated from College High in 1961. She went on to graduate from Draughon’s School of Business.
She met the love of her life, Victor Stead, in 1960 on a church hayride. They were married on August 4, 1961, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They then moved to Oklahoma City where they had three daughters and moved to Newcastle, Oklahoma in 1974.
She worked in the bankruptcy court and had a long-lasting career as a paralegal for many local law firms. Vic and Jeana were avid square dancers who served as President of Central District 1992-93. Jeana loved traveling, reading, socializing with friends, was a proud Red Hatter, and spending time with her family.
The main thing to know about Jeana was that she lived her life loud.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sheri (Dennis) Elliott of Tuttle, and Valenda (Matthew) Tower of Yukon; four grandchildren Lindsey (Joshua) Garner, Heather McCracken, Thomas (Sable) Tower, Caitlyn (Lathan) Springer; and nine great-grandchildren, Michael, Jayden, Colton, Brody, Lilyon, Everett, Caydence, Rowan and Wyatt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at 2 p.m. on June 15, 2023. The family kindly requests that you wear bright colors and no suits.
Red Hatters, please feel free to wear your regalia.
