A graveside service for Melvin E. Judkins was at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Melvin Eugene Judkins passed from this life at the age of 87, on May 21, 2023, in Oklahoma City. He was born in Oklahoma City to parents, Herbert Cromer Judkins and Rebecca (Davis) Judkins.

Melvin grew up in the Putnam City area and graduated from Putnam City High School in 1955. After graduating he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and then joined the Marine Corps, where he served from 1958 to 1959 on the Marine Corps’ wrestling team.

After getting discharged from the Marines, Melvin returned to Oklahoma City where he met and married the love of his life, K Charlotte (Doughty) Judkins. Together they had three children: Lori (Judkins) Mueller, Kurt Judkins, and Lance Judkins.

They raised their children in the Newcastle area where Melvin was head of the maintenance department at Newcastle Public Schools. Melvin worked there from the mid-1980s until the late-1990s when he earned his retirement. Melvin loved going to his kids’ sporting events when they were growing up, even serving on the Newcastle school board during the late 1970s to early 1980s while his children attended school there.

He loved going to the Lake of the Arbuckles where they would water ski and fish and do all sorts of activities. He enjoyed taking his family on long road trips, whether it be to Lake Ontario or San Antonio, they always had a wonderful time together. He enjoyed watching football, his biggest passion though was wrestling. Melvin started the Little League Wrestling program in Newcastle.

He is preceded in death by: his, wife, K Charlotte (Doughty) Judkins; parents, Herbert Cromer and Rebecca (Davis) Judkins; infant daughter, Cari Lynn; and brothers, Raymond and David Judkins.

Melvin is survived by: his daughter, Lori Mueller, and husband, Steve of Lebanon, Oregon; sons, Kurt Judkins of Newcastle, Oklahoma, and Lance Judkins and wife, Tiffany of Tuttle, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kelly Steward, Veronica Manley, and husband, Ben, Kaden Judkins, Ramsey Judkins, Brooks Judkins, and Jynner Judkins; greatgrandson, Bradley Gene Manley; and brother, Wayne Judkins; as well as several nieces and nephews.
