Last week was National Police Week — a week that occurs every year to appreciate and thank our law enforcement officers, as well as remember and respect those officers whose lives were taken in the line of duty. 05/23/2024 05:00 AM
State’s bad actors to be held accountable
State’s bad actors to be held accountable
It seems like every time a new audit of state government is released, taxpayers get more bad news about how their tax dollars are being handled. One of my chief priorities since taking office last year has been to address a culture of corruption and scandal that has clouded state government in recent years. My office has stayed busier than I would like with this task. 05/23/2024 05:00 AM
Tips for those with storm damages
Tips for those with storm damages
For my constituents in Senate District 43 who were affected by the recent severe weather, one of the most important things you can do is to report your damage online at damage.ok.gov. Many local officials have already assessed storm damage in the district. But reporting the damage to your home, business or farm will help state authorities understand the areas of greatest need across Oklahoma. 05/16/2024 05:00 AM

The Far-Left’s serious anti-Israel problem
Over the past few months, we have watched violent, antisemitic, un-American, and pro-terrorist mobs take over college campuses across the country, endangering Jewish students and other innocent bystanders. Yet, for months, many Democrats have refused to speak out against the protests. 05/16/2024 05:00 AM

My thoughts and prayers are with the Oklahomans impacted by the tornadoes that swept through southern Oklahoma. The devastation is appalling, but Oklahomans are resilient. I know our communities will band together to help those affected by these storms because that is the Oklahoma Standard. If I can assist anyone needing help in Senate District 43, please don’t hesitate to call my office. 05/09/2024 05:00 AM

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, it’s my honor and responsibility to ensure Oklahoma’s military installations and defense partners have what they need at the federal level to protect and serve our nation. What’s equally important, however, are the investments our communities make within themselves to support America’s warfighters and protect Oklahoma’s future as a national defense hub. 05/09/2024 05:00 AM

Iwas told last week that the Newcastle Pacer has too much Chickasaw Nation news amongst its pages. 05/09/2024 05:00 AM

Broadband expansion is this generation’s rural electrification
From downtown Oklahoma City and Tulsa to the far edges of the panhandle and Ouachita Mountains, high-speed internet is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. 05/02/2024 05:00 AM

The governor signed my first piece of legislation to make it to his desk this session, and I expect he will sign more of my bills into law in the coming weeks. Gov. Kevin Stitt’s desk is quickly filling up with bills as the Senate and House have hit our fourth major deadline of this session. April 25 was the deadline for bills to get a floor hearing in the opposite chamber. 05/02/2024 05:00 AM

Becoming the First Native American Appropriations Committee Chairman
On April 10, I was ratified by the House Republican Conference as the new Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee — but not only did I just become the new chairman, I also became the first Native American to ever chair this committee. 05/02/2024 05:00 AM

Time for Senate to vote
The Senate recently passed its third major deadline of this session, and both chambers will soon begin sending a deluge of bills to the governor’s desk. April 11 was the deadline for House bills to be heard in Senate committees and Senate bills to be heard in House committees. That means both chambers have completed the majority of their committee work for this session. The full Senate will spend the next two weeks voting on bills on the floor. 04/25/2024 05:00 AM
