Registered Republican voters in McClain County are encouraged to attend the Mc-Clain County Precinct Meeting from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on February 18 at the Newcastle Storm Shelter. The meeting is for the purpose of precinct elections.
McClain County GOP Chair Paul Maus said, “The goal is to elect Precinct Officers and Delegates to the County Convention. Other business may also be conducted as necessary for the precinct.”
Registration is from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. You must have a photo ID and Voter ID card to register. Attending a Precinct meeting is the first step in selecting delegates who will attend the County, and State Conventions.
The McClain County Republican Convention will be held immediately following on February 18. The County Convention convenes at 10 a.m. and will go to noon. A $5 fee will be charged to delegates attending the County convention.
The State Convention is on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6 with the location to be announced by the Oklahoma State GOP office.
In announcing these meetings, the Maus said, “A person must be a registered Republican voter of the precinct to take part in a precinct meeting and to serve as a delegate to the Republican County and State convention. Others are welcome to attend the meeting to view but cannot vote. These meetings are informative with time allowed for discussing problems at the local, state, and national levels and to elect precinct and county positions.”
The Newcastle Storm Shelter is located at 851 North Carr Drive, Newcastle OK 73065. In case of severe weather, February 25 has been reserved as a backup date.
