Two Newcastle property owners have filed a civil case against the City of Newcastle concerning decisions the city council has approved for an oil well site for Four Point Energy.

The site, known as Riva Ridge North (located on the north side of S.W. 16th Street, approximately 2,000 feet east of S. Rockwell Avenue), was approved for a conditional use permit so Four Point Energy could drill on the property.

Brian Betourney, who lives west of the site, and Ryan Bittle, who resides east of the site, filed the civil action in McClain County District Court through their attorney, Nichols Dixon of Norman.

The council held an executive session (closed meeting) at their September 11 regular meeting to discuss pending litigation along with the City Attorney, but took no action upon coming out of executive session and back into the regular meeting.
