NHS beats Plainview, 35-21

Plainview returned home to the Ardmore area after taking a 35-21 defeat to the Newcastle Racers Friday night.

Plainview returned home to the Ardmore area after taking a 35-21 defeat to the Newcastle Racers Friday night.

The Racers put it into high gear in the first half to lead Plainview, 28-7, but gave up two more touchdowns in the second half.

Head Coach Jeff Brickman said, “We had the lead at halftime but fumbled the ball on the first possession in the second half. Plainview took advantage and scored on a deep pass. Rather than being up 357, the score became 28-14.”

Brickman said the Racers “iced the game” on their last touchdown in the fourth quarter by being up two scores.

Brickman said the Racers played very well on special teams, and played well defending the run.

The coach added, “The special teams were perfect on extra points, and they averaged more than 40 yards per punt.”

The game’s Most Valuable Player went to Rex Heskew. Defensive Player of the Game was TJ Bradford, while Offensive Player of the Game was Carson Bolser. The best tackle went to Shane Lovejoy, and “most pancakes’ went to Chaz Gentry. The Scout Team recognition went to Reuben Rendon-Zamora, while special teams recognition went to Toby Batchelder.

Brickman expects a good game next Friday as the Racers travel west to play Woodward. The Boomers are 0-2 on the season, having lost to Guthrie, 69-0, and to Bethany, 40-14.
