Rotary Club International of Newcastle is planning a Trivia Night fundraiser with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the game starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 14 at Libby’s Cafe, 111 N. Main in Goldsby.

Rotary spokesperson Tamara Holland said all proceeds made from the event will be used by the Newcastle Rotary Club to purchase medical bicycles for McClain Grady County Emergency Medical Services.

The club is more than halfway to their goal to purchase the bicycles that will be utilized for city events and sporting events to help carry needed equipment in case of a medical emergency.

McClain Grady County EMS director Robin Robinson stated the bicycles will be able to get to areas during events that an ambulance won’t fit. At the football stadiums the bicycles can be pushed up the stairs to assist the EMS team with lifesaving equipment.

The bicycles will also help during city wide events. When someone is in need of assistance and they are out in the middle of a crowd, a team member can use the bikes for faster response time and to maneuver through the crowd. Their equipment can be attached to the bikes, which also helps the team by not physically running from the ambulance with the equipment to the scene. The response time can improve by a few minutes that matter during emergency situations.

Tickets for Trivia Night are $10 per person. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three winners.

You can pre-register your team at [email protected] or you can register on the day of the event.
