Riverwind Casino, in partnership with Our Blood Institute, will host a blood drive today (Thursday, Aug. 10), inside the Riverwind Hotel’s conference rooms. The drive will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Successful donors will receive $10 in Wild Card Bonus Play at Riverwind along with a free lawn chair and a “Life Is Better As A Blood Donor” T-shirt. Donors also will receive their choice of one summer ticket to Science Museum Oklahoma, Frontier City or Hurricane Harbor.
Donors who would like to support the Global Blood Fund can forego the T-shirt and, in turn, OBI will make a contribution of similar value to the fund.
“OBI performs an important service to our community and we are glad to be longtime partners with them,” said Justin Yahola, Riverwind’s general manager. “It is a tradition for Riverwind’s patrons and employees to give generously during blood drives.”
Since the start of 2022, 462 donors who have given blood during blood drives at Riverwind Casino have benefitted 1,386 people across OBI’s service area.
OBI, which serves Oklahoma and parts of Arkansas and Texas, says it takes nearly 1,200 donors daily to meet the blood needs of patients in regional hospitals. The OBI also says mobile blood drives, like the one at Riverwind, are responsible for two of every three units of donated blood.
