What’s in Newcastle?

Find out what’s available, who’s who in your community

A Meet the Community event, held on an annual basis by the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., August 12 this year at Newcastle Christian Church, 2200 N. Main Street.

Chamber CEO/Executive Director Gayla Riddle said, “The chamber’s vision is that this is a one-stop place for new and existing community members alike to come and see what our businesses have to offer.”

The chamber would like local residents to attend and hear about the school system, sports teams, city offices, the Newcastle library, medical and dental offices, veterinarians, family services, financial institutions, event centers, and everything in between, Riddle said.

She also said the chamber invites local businesses and organizations to take part.

“If you have something to offer to the community, come out and set up a vendor table,” Riddle said.

She explains that this is a free event for chamber members who want to have a booth and promote their business. Non-members can have a booth for a $100 fee. If interested, you can email Riddle at chamber@newcastleok. org.

“This is a great networking opportunity,” Riddle said. “The public is invited to attend and get acquainted with area businesses and organizations. Come on out.”

Pioneer will be serving a free hot dog sack lunch and Newcastle Christian Church will be serving cookies.

“This is our third year to hold this event and it has grown every year,” Riddle said.

She said the first year there were only 13 vendors but last year they had 23.

Riddle said, “We are hoping to grow this event every year, and in the future we hope to add some kid-friendly activities as well as some food trucks.”
