The serene grounds of Newcastle Memorial Gardens, a place where many in the community come to find solace and remember their loved ones, will be undergoing a significant clean-up during the second week of August 2023. The move forms part of the ongoing commitment to maintain the respectful and quiet atmosphere of our local cemetery.

Loved ones of those memorialized in the Gardens are being asked to remove personal items, including flowers in vases, that they wish to keep by August 7. This important effort underlines the necessity of respecting the community regulations for the benefit of all visitors.

The cemetery guidelines state that decorations may only consist of flowers in vases affixed to monuments or floral arrangements secured in saddles on top of the monuments. The clean-up operation will result in the removal of items not adhering to these rules.

A City spokesperson said, “Our primary goal is the preservation of a serene environment for all who visit Newcastle Memorial Gardens to honor and remember their loved ones. We extend our deepest gratitude to all for their understanding and cooperation during this time.”

Residents and other interested parties seeking further clarification are encouraged to contact the city at 405-3874427 or consult the official website at https://newcastleok. gov/services/cemetery.

Detailed information about the rules and regulations of the cemetery, including those related to plants and shrubs can be found on the City’s website.

The spokesperson said, “Newcastle Memorial Gardens is our local cemetery, but also is a place of memory, reflection, and respect.

“Maintaining its beauty and tranquility is a responsibility the City takes very seriously, and we appreciate the community’s support in this endeavor.”
