McClain County Commissioners met in a regular session on Monday, July 10 at the McClain County Courthouse, where significant decisions were made to address fiscal matters and county governance.

Decisions during the meeting included the approval of minutes from the previous meeting on July 3, 2023. Wilson Lyles made the motion, which was seconded by Glen Murray, and the minutes were approved by a unanimous vote.

The commissioners also approved maintenance and operation claims for the fiscal year 2022-2023. These claims covered various essential expenses for county operations, such as a dump truck, a heat and air system, and medical staffing.

Among other notable actions, the board approved Blanket Purchase Orders, the monthly reports for various departments, and the allocation of Alcoholic Beverage Tax.

Another critical matter addressed during the session was the resolution to advertise bids for the purchase of a used truck for District One and a 2023 Ford F450 4x4 Brush Truck for the Newcastle Fire Department.

Moreover, the commissioners reviewed and approved bids for a new vehicle, a John Deere BP84C 84” Pick-Up Broom attachment for a Skid Steer from P&K Equipment. They also approved the District Two Bryant Avenue Guardrail plans with Crafton Tull.

Furthermore, Bryan Dye, M.D. was appointed as a member of the McClain County Board of Health.

No immediate action was taken concerning the driveway at the McClain County Public Safety Center, and an agenda item with Lime Rock Productions was tabled.

At the conclusion of the session, the commissioners approved dues to ACCO for the 2023-2024 fiscal year and adjourned the meeting.

These decisions and actions are taken by the county commissioners as a way to address financial matters, and invest in equipment and services for benefit of McClain County residents.
