Pioneer Cellular has entered into an agreement with Verizon to ensure that its area customers maintain their connectivity as Pioneer discontinues cellular operations by September 30, 2023.
A Pioneer representative said Verizon began offering service in the Pioneer Cellular territory on July 7, 2023, and they look forward to offering Pioneer Cellular customers access to that network.
Duringthetransitionperiod, Verizon will provide Pioneer Cellular customers an exclusive $50 credit per line and waive the activation fee for all transfers(atotalof$85savings perline!).Thisoffercanalsobe combined with other current Verizon promotions. Most of Pioneer Cellular customers are ready to transition today, but some areas have a slight delay. To determine the readiness date, customers are asked to visit the Pioneer website and enter their mobile number to determine transition date readiness.
Customers must transfer their service to Verizon or another provider before September 30. Verizon has multiple locations available.
The Pioneer representative said please note that there is no impact to Pioneer’s broadband, telephone or iVideo customers.
The representative said, “While this decision to shut down our cellular operations only impacts our wireless business, we believe this decision is necessary for the continued health of the remaining businesses in our cooperative.”
