Riverwind Casino, in partnership with Oklahoma Blood Institute, will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 6. The drive will take place inside the Riverwind Hotel.
Successful donors will receive $10 in Wild Card Bonus Play along with a limited-edition red, white and blue shirt and a free camp chair, part of OBI’s All-American Promotion. Donors also will receive their choice of one ticket to Science Museum Oklahoma, Frontier City or Hurricane Harbor. Donors who would like to support the Global Blood Fund can forego the T-shirt and, in turn, OBI will make a contribution of similar value to the fund.
“Our continued partnership with OBI helps them perform their important service to our community,” said Justin Yahola, Riverwind’s general manager. “Giving blood is a good way to help those in need and Riverwind’s patrons and employees usually give generously during these drives.”
Since the start of 2022, 393 donors who have given blood during blood drives at Riverwind Casino have benefitted 1,179 people across OBI’s service area.
OBI, which serves Oklahoma and parts of Arkansas and Texas, says it takes nearly 1,200 donors daily to meet the blood needs of patients in regional hospitals. It also says mobile blood drives are responsible for two of every three units of donated blood.
