Fireworks, festival Saturday night at Veterans Park

Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Marks said the City of Newcastle has planned its biggest fireworks display ever.

The display, being shot off by Rainbow Fireworks of Inman, Kansas, will conclude the Red, White & Blue Fest at about 9:45 p.m. on Saturday night. Marks said the City is expecting to have a great show, and all are hoping the weather cooperates.

The Fest will begin at 6 p.m. with all activities at Veterans Park.

Marks said, “There will be music, games, food trucks, a petting zoo from Kamy’s Exotics, inflatables from Inflatable Adventures, and plenty of vendors with goodies from tumblers to Tshirts, baked goods, and honey.

Marks said there will be 15 vendors altogether, and some of those include kids’ games with prizes. There will be another 14 food vendors.

The Oklahoma City band Drive will be performing throughout the evening. They play a little bit of everything, Marks said.

According to their website, Drive is a five-piece high energy versatile mulit-genre band that is represented by Box Talent Agency. They cover a wide range of music spanning the decades including dance, pop, rock, hip-hop/rap, as well as country and red dirt.

Marks said the City’s new parking lots at Veterans Park are expected to be open for the Fest. They have spaces for 300 cars, motorcycles, and some are handicapped accessible. He said Veterans Parkway will also be open.

Vendors who are bringing their food offerings include: Creek Bottom Burgers, Some Like it Tot, The Pizza Spot, ConeHeads OKC, Wicked Hangry Chicken Truck, Newcastle Police Department, Carnival Eats & Treats, Alfonso’s Smoked BBQ, Kona Ice, Oklahoma Kettle Corn, Horton’s Cotton Candy, The Baked Bear, The Big Lemon, and Vintage Soul Coffee Company.

Several area businesses and individuals are helping sponsor the Red, White & Blue Fest. OEC is the fireworks sponsor, and stage sponsors are Community Bank of Oklahoma, ThruTubing Solutions, Raising Cane’s, The First National Bank and Trust of Newcastle, Nano Repairs, Ortho Central, FourPoint Energy, Country Financial: Mary Mathews, Pioneer Telephone, and Senator Jessica Garvin.

Other event sponsors are: Republic Services, Focus Federal Credit Union, Oklahoma Natural Gas, McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter, Huffman Custom Homes, and Tinker Federal Credit Union.
