Newcastle’s Racers continued their hot streak with two more wins last week and a number five-ranking in Class 4A. One of the wins came in a game against number eightranked Anadarko, who is tied with Tuttle for the position.
The Racers played Tuttle on Tuesday night, but the game was after print deadline for the Newcastle Pacer so we couldn’t report the game’s outcome in this issue.
The Racers beat Chickasha, 72-38 on January 10, and then beat Anadarko, 48-38, on Friday night.

Chickasha came out strong in the first period during this matchup, scoring 10 to Newcastle’s 7; however, a whopping 31-point second period put the Racers in the lead for good. Newcastle added another 17 a piece in the third and fourth periods, while Chickasha had only 10, 8 and 16.
Racer sophomore Carl’Sheon Young came alive in the second period, hitting three from the field and two treys. He added another three field goals in the third period to tie for high-scoring honors with senior Chase Sucharda. Both had 18 points in the game.
Nathan Ashley also had a big second period hitting three from the field and one three-pointer. He had 14 points total in the game.
Newcastle’s defense held Chickasha to only 38 points, while the Racer offense busted 72.
