The Newcastle Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #135 is excited to announce its participation in the highly anticipated Red, White & Blue Fest, taking place on Saturday at Veterans Park.
A spokesperson for the FOP said, “As part of this community celebration, FOP Lodge #135 will host a thrilling dunk tank event, aiming to raise funds for a scholarship awarded to a deserving Newcastle High School senior.”
The introduction of the scholarship program signifies the FOP Lodge’s commitment to supporting local education.
“With a goal to provide larger and more scholarships in the 2023-24 school year, the FOP Lodge is determined to assist students in pursuing their academic dreams,” the spokesperson said. In the previous year, FOP Lodge #135 successfully awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a high school graduate who demonstrated exceptional qualities through an extensive application and interview process.
Officers MPO McNew and MPO Jones, the two school resource officers, alongside Officer Sainz and Lieutenant Spratt, are among the brave participants who have volunteered to be dunked at the event. Community members will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the scholarship fund while enjoying some friendly competition and good-natured fun.
In addition to the dunk tank at the Red, White & Blue Fest, Newcastle FOP Lodge #135 announces its inaugural scholarship shoot out on September 16 at Silverleaf Shooting Shotgun Sports. This exciting event will provide attendees with a chance to showcase their shooting skills while raising additional funds for the scholarship program.
