An annual audit required by state statute was performed by State Auditor & Inspector Cindy Byrd’s office on Mc-Clain County Treasurer’s office. The report came back with no exceptions noted.
The audit, done annually, was on County Treasurer Teresa Jones’ office and looked at three specific areas.
The report states that those areas are the following:
• Determine whether bank reconciliations are properly performed, visually verify the certificates of deposit, and confirm the investments.
• Determine whether subsidiary records are reconciled to the general ledger.
• Determine whether deposits and invested funds are secured by pledged collateral.
Again, no exceptions were noted in the report.
Byrd noted that she thanks Jones’ office for the assistance and cooperation they extended to the State Auditor & Inspector’s office during the audit. She noted that her office does not express an opinion on any basic financial statement of McClain County.
