Beginning February 1, Republic Waste will no longer pick up trash bags placed outside a poly-cart in Newcastle. Residents have the option of requesting a second poly-cart for an extra fee, according to the City.
Republic’s decision to stop picking up extra bags placed outside the poly-cart is a company policy change. It does not reflect a contractual change for the City of Newcastle.
This change will not affect bulk trash days. The next bulk pickups are: February 6-10 for the residents on the east side of Newcastle, and February 13-17 for residents on the west side of Newcastle.
Newcastle customers are also entitled to one landfill trip per month of up to 1,000 pounds for free. The landfill gate person will require an original copy of your current water bill to redeem the trip. Any amount over 1,000 pounds will be charged and billed separately.
