City Manager Kevin Self and City Treasurer Jeanie Skeen were the subjects of an executive session held annually to discuss their performance.

After conclusion of the session, Newcastle City Council members voted to approve both Self and Skeen for raises.

Mayor Karl Nail said the Council is extremely pleased with both of their performances.“ They have put the City in a good financial position and we are pleased with where we are now,” Nail said.

He said the position allows the Council to continue with fulfilling the many needs of the City.

Nail said the Council also did a comparison of salaries among the same positions in 10 other area communities of similar size.

The Council voted to give Self a raise from $120,750 to $131,500. Although Skeen is part of the City’s step raise payroll, they approved a 4.5% raise for her.

The executive session was at the May regular meeting.
