Since there is misinformation on social media, the Newcastle Pacer called Coach Mike Crossley about his current situation. Coach Crossley said he has retired from teaching, but had intended to continue coaching baseball and softball. He said at this time he has not been rehired.

Crossley told the he was told the position was posted as being open and he could reapply. He said he has not done anything wrong or unethical, and has always represented Newcastle Public Schools in a positive manner. Furthermore, he said he has never had a bad evaluation in 38 years.

He said he is a little confused, but has had a lot of support from past players and alumni. He said it is very important that if you support him, to please do so in a positive manner and not attack the school.

Under Crossley, Newcastle baseball has been district or bi-district champions 32 times. They have had eight State tournament appearances, and they’ve had numerous players go on to play college baseball.
