In anticipation of this year’s Friends of the Library Book Sale, Newcastle Rotary Club International has been collecting book donations. These books and many others will be available at this year’s Book Sale and Craft show, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3 in the Community Room at the Newcastle Library.
The book sale is the Friends’ one big event each year and helps provide needed funding to the library for programs. Those attending the event can fill a bag of books for $5. There will also be a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Friends are also selling raffle tickets for their annual quilt giveaway fundraiser.
The quilts were donated by Joyce Stotler. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and can be purchased at the library until June 3. The winning tickets are drawn at the conclusion of the library book sale. The winner does not have to be in attendance at the drawing, but they will be notified and the Friends said they would like to take a photo of the winners.
The quilts were created based on the themes Pals and Crossword.
Friends member Charlene Phillips said the craft show has been expanded to two rooms for this year, and because of this the blood drive is being moved outside. The Blood Drive by the Oklahoma Blood Institute will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3 in the Oklahoma Blood Institute Bloodmobile. It will be parked next to the library.
To make an appointment, call 877-340-8777, or visit obi.org. Each donor receives a vintage Life is Better T-shirt, said an OBI spokesperson, and their choice of free entry to Science Museum Oklahoma, Frontier City, or Hurricane Harbor. These are while supplies last.
