Coach Tom Pecore, who recently discontinued coaching for Newcastle High School soccer, was recently inducted into the Putnam City Athletic Hall of Fame.
An induction banquet for members of the PC Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023 was May 17 at Victory Church in Oklahoma City.
Pecore spent 18 years as a coach and teacher at Putnam City North, before retiring after the 2018 school year. Pecore’s PC North teams earned State Tournament berths in 16 of 18 seasons, and they won back-to-back State titles. Pecore said he had 63 players go on to play soccer in college while there.
He came out of retirement shortly after leaving PC north to coach soccer at Newcastle.
Also while at PC North, Pecore celebrated 300 career wins. He now has 316 career wins.
Other Putnam City inductees were: Putnam City High School’s Xavier Henry, Darrel Johnson, Bryan McCann, Courtney Berry Pennington; PC North’s Berry Holleyman, Marla Looper, and Guard Young; and PC West’s Jerry Arnold, Ted Ledbetter, Erin Newkirk Workman, and Brad Norman.
