Newcastle residents with household hazardous waste will be able to safely dispose of their excess or leftovers at an event in June.
From 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 3, the City is hosting a “Too Toxic To Trash” event at the Chickasaw Training Center, 400 N.W. 32nd Street.
Participants must bring their Newcastle utility bill as proof of residency. They can stay in their car as volunteers unload for them.
Waste items include only household hazardous waste, and no commercial. Organizers said they will reserve the right to close early in the event they max out their collection quota. Hazardous waste accepted includes: Oilbased paint (no latex), pesticides and herbicides, fuels and oils, cleaning supplies, sharps, and tires (no rims).
They’ll also be accepting expired and unused medication. This includes narcotic and non-narcotic, but no liquids, no inhalers, and no medical marijuana products.
The PIKEPASS mobile store will be on site to open new accounts and service existing accounts. Sponsors for the event include the OTA, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, the Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, and RTR Environmental.
