Price increase coming in March for issues of the Pacer

Newcastle-area residents and other readers of the Newcastle Pacer will pay a little more for their local newspaper in the new year.

Newcastle-area residents and other readers of the Newcastle Pacer will pay a little more for their local newspaper in the new year.

Subscription prices and single- copy prices of the Pacer are being increased on March 15, 2023.

Single copy sales are being increased from .50¢ to $1. Yearly subscription prices for readers in McClain, Grady and Cleveland Counties, is increasing from $25/year to $35/year. Subscriptions to all other Oklahoma counties is increasing from $28/year to $38/year, and out of state subscriptions are increasing from $30/year to $50/year.

“We may have had the lowest priced subscriptions in the state for local news,” said Publisher Mark Codner. “We tried to keep our rates the same, but now postal rates have increased multiple times over the last several years, and we must increase subscription costs to absorb the additional distribution expense.

“We hope you are able to afford this small increase. Your weekly newspaper which is filled with local news about Newcastle is still less than a cup of coffee.”

Codner said weekly newspapers have always tried to at least cover their costs with distribution, and this increase hopefully will put the Newcastle Pacer back in line.

“We know increased expenses are a burden, but we hope our readers feel that the information and the services we provide, and the togetherness we create in our community, is well worth the small expense,” Codner said.

The cost for digital-only access to the Newcastle Pacer will remain the same, at $22 per year.
