Newcastle vocal music students took part at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association State Solo and Ensemble Contest on April 27 at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City.
Teacher Sarah Stancil said Newcastle was well represented with Emily Bussum earning a “Superior” rating, Madison Claypool, Avery Phillips, and Emma Wilson earning an “Excellent” rating, and Allison Nelson earning a “Good” rating.
Emily Bussom is an alto, while Madison, Avery, Allison and Emma are sopranos.
The contest was originally scheduled for April 20 at Oklahoma Baptist University, but was rescheduled due to the tornadic activity in Shawnee the night prior.
