The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce annual State of the City luncheon with Mayor Karl Nail is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at the Community Room in the Newcastle Library.
A Chamber spokesperson says participants will have a comprehensive look at the City of Newcastle’s progress, addressing both achievements and challenges, while also unveiling ambitious plans for the future.
Mayor Nail said, “I am planning on discussing the achievements over the past year, vital statistics about the City and the opportunities and challenges we face moving forward.”
He said some of the largest of those challenges include growth and infrastructure; however, the City has extensive planning in place and they’ve hired an engineering firm to complete an overall water and sewer study to assist the City in determining priorities for construction.
“We also continue to work hard on economic development to attract sales tax generating businesses,” Nail said.
Newcastle’s City Council has done extensive work along with the City Manager and staff along all these areas. Monthly council meetings focus on how best to handle them.
The Chamber spokesperson said the luncheon is a great time to connect with other community members and business leaders while “exploring the exciting developments shaping Newcastle.”
Cost of the luncheon is $15 with an RSVP, which can be done by going to the Chamber’s website, newcastleok. org. Cost of the luncheon at the door is $20.
