Kenneth Wayne Housh “Bear” born June 8, 1960, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home on March 21, 2023, in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Kenny graduated from Newcastle Schools in 1979 where he was active in 4H, FFA, choir, football, and going fast. He was also a member of First Baptist Church Newcastle where he gave his life to the Lord at a young age.
After graduating high school, he found his calling in mechanics. He began his career working on big equipment, but soon found a career path in the elevator trade.
He continued on that path from July 1979 to January 2012, despite an almost fatal injury sustained while working under an elevator. To say he loved his job and coworkers would be an understatement; it was a second family and an earned life skill.
Bear was blessed to have a family who loved him unconditionally.
He was an entertaining and loving father to his son, Kendall, and daughter Jessica. He enjoyed working on race cars with Kendall, the way he used to work on them with his father, a Housh tradition that Kendall will cherish forever.
Bear found his true joy when he became a grandpa to Luke, Kasen, and Jack. Being a grandpa meant he could experience the wonder of life through their eyes, and he enjoyed every second they were around.
Bear is survived by: his loving mother, Dolorus Housh; daughter, Jessica Swanson and husband Preston Swanson; son, Kendall Housh and wife Kirsten Housh; grandsons, Luke Swanson, Kasen Housh, and Jack Swanson.
He is also survived by: brothers, David Housh, Stan Housh and wife Dian Housh; sister, Dianna Cannon and husband Guy Cannon; nephews, Brad Cannon, Ryan Cannon, and Blaine Housh; and nieces Sheresa McDermott and Tessa Hazelbaker. He was preceded in death by his father, Gail “Bill” Housh.
A celebration of life was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at First Baptist Church Newcastle in Newcastle, Oklahoma.
