Racers hold off Harrah for win

Despite seeing its six-run lead whittled down by the end, Newcastle still held off Harrah for a 6-4 victory on Tuesday, March 22. Harrah scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout and a home run.

Despite seeing its six-run lead whittled down by the end, Newcastle still held off Harrah for a 6-4 victory on Tuesday, March 22. Harrah scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout and a home run.

The Racers earned the 6-4 victory despite allowing Harrah to score the four seventh- inning runs.

Trey Crossley was on the pitcher’s mound for Newcastle. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one. Hank Brown was on the hill for Harrah. He lasted six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out nine.

Zach Thompson threw one inning out of the bullpen.

Newcastle launched one home run on the day. Tyler Frazier went for the long ball in the seventh inning.

The Racers collected eight hits total. Logan Wade, Frazier, and Taj Smith each had two hits for the Racers.

Joey McLaughlin led Harrah with three hits in four at bats.

Newcastle win over Harrah thanks to 4th inning boost The Racers scored seven runs in the fourth inning on the way to an 11-1 victory over Harrah on Monday, March 21. Newcastle batters contributing to the big inning included Taj Smith, Kaden Longman, Alex Logan, Lane Seaton, and Logan Wade, who all drove in runs.

The Racers got on the board in the first inning when Jackson Schanuel doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

The Racers notched seven runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from walks by Longman and Logan, singles by Smith and Wade, and a triple by Seaton.

Wade led things off on the hill for Newcastle. The bulldog lasted five innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out 10 and walking zero.

McLaughlin was on the hill for Harrah. The pitcher went three innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out five. Zach Thompson and Colton Whitnah entered the game as relief, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.

James Folsom went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Newcastle in hits. McLaughlin led Harrah with one hit in three at bats.

Newcastle beats Bethany with 5 run third inning Newcastle took the Saturday victory against the Bethany Broncos to the tune of 6-1.

Bethany fired up the offense in the first inning when Charlie Tolle drove in one on a single.

The Racers pulled away for good, however, with five runs in the third inning. Jackson Schanuel drew a walk, scoring one run. Taj Smith grounded out, scoring one run. Logan Wade doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Lane Seaton drew a walk, scoring one run, and Kaden Longman drew a walk, scoring one run.

Wade took the win for the Racers, going seven innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 15.

Gavin Finley took the loss for Bethany. The southpaw surrendered five runs on six hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Newcastle racked up eight hits in the game. Wade and Tyler Frazier all had two hits apiece for Newcastle.

The Racers were surehanded in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Folsom had the most chances with 16.
