Veteran David Sommerdorf is speaker at Calvary Baptist Church April 2-5

Pastor Danny Barnwell said Calvary Baptist Church has a fantastic speaker who will be at their church during a revival April 2-5.

Pastor Danny Barnwell said Calvary Baptist Church has a fantastic speaker who will be at their church during a revival April 2-5.

David Sommerdorf, a Marine Corps veteran, will be their guest speaker at both 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 2, and then again at 7 p.m. April 3-5.

Summerdorf’s messages include: “We remind all Americans that freedom is not free. We remember the victims of September 11th. We reinforce the need to support our troops as they defend our freedoms and assist in meeting their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.”

Barnwell said this is the first time the church has had Sommerdorf as a speaker. The pastor said Sommerdorf speaks directly to men mostly, but his message is for everyone.

The guest speaker and his wife, Debra, who have Summerdorf Family Ministries, are also in charge of America’s Mobile Memorial, the Miliary Vette. This vehicle was made to honor the families of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, according to Sommerdorf.

The Military Vette is featured in the National Corvette Museum. According to Sommerdorf Family Ministries, “the Military Vette is a one-ofa- kind car with unique symbolism and expressions of patriotism painted throughout it’s highly detailed finish.”

They state that, “The original exterior design was installed in the form of digital graphics in early 2007. In October of 2012, the Military Vette and her trailer underwent a complete overhaul and redesign. The new graphics include not only airbrushing and six coats of clear coat finish, but also the “Wall of Remembrance” of all of the troops who have perished in our war against terrorism. Now traveling America, she serves as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom, and of our nation’s godly heritage.”

The Military-Vette is now on permanent display at the America On Wheels museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
