Cruisin’ into Newcastle

Cruisin’ into Newcastle Tri-City Cruisers Car Show gets underway here Saturday

The largest sponsored car show in the state of Oklahoma returns to Newcastle starting with registration at 8 a.m. on April 26. The Tri-City Cruisers will hold their 32nd annual show in the parking lot of the Chickasaw Nation training facility, located behind Braums off State Highway 37 and Tri-City Drive.

Registration, which costs $30, continues through 11 a.m. and then judging will begin. Trophies are being awarded at 2:30 p.m. There is no pre-registration online or otherwise, organizers said. Forms to register, which can be printed out and brought to the show, can be found on the Tri-City Cruisers’ page on Facebook.

Last year, more than 300 cars were present and the Cruisers gave away more than $1,250 in their 50/50, and 18 premium prizes of $150-$300 in value. They also gave away more than 200 door prizes.

Organizers said another 50 cars, that were not entered, drove through, and the Cruisers’ members’ cars were on site, but were not eligible to take part in the judging.

More than 60 trophies will be awarded, and all entrants will receive their car’s photo on a participant plaque.

Along with the cars, an NSRA Safety Inspector will be on site, and music will be played by a disc jockey.

Tri-City Cruisers President David Gayanich says all the proceeds made from the car show will be used to support community needs.

The Tri-City Cruisers is an active car club in the Blanchard, Newcastle, and Tuttle areas. Members enjoy a common interest in muscle cars, original and modified cars and trucks of all makes and years. Club activities include monthly meetings, cruise-ins and dinner drives.

Past donations to the Tri-City Cruisers have been presented to those impacted by a tornado which struck the Moore area. They’ve been given to local residents whose homes had burned, and to local residents suffering from health issues.

The club also has provided scholarships in the past to votech automotive program students that can be used for tuition.
