Hampton has tips as State testing approaches at NMS

Newcastle Middle School teachers and students are preparing for state testing. Principal Wade Hampton had several tips for parents.

In his weekly column, “The Principal’s Desk,” Hampton said it is important for students and parents to establish a study routine. He said they should review key concepts, practice with sample tests, stay positive and encourage a growth mindset, and promote healthy habits. He said reviewing test-taking strategies can help, and added that parents who are supportive and available helps.

Hampton said staying in touch with your child’s teachers and the school will help parents to be informed. And, he said a calm morning routine on test day will help set a positive tone for the day ahead.

In other NMS news, the 2025 Physical Night will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 for band and athletics students.

The school also reports that the choir scored a 1 (superior) at the Pride of Oklahoma Music Festival. Aubrie Floyd was selected as the school’s Victory Lap Award winner. She was recognized for “her unwavering dedication to building strong, positive relationships with students.”

The Teacher Spotlight was Tanner Wallace. He was recognized for his “dedication, enthusiasm, and passion for education.” His “classroom is a place where history comes to life, engaging students in meaningful and interactive learning.”
